Influenced by the COVID-19 pandemic, the global business model is rapidly shifting from physical to online activities. Taipei International Machine Tool Show (TIMTOS), which is held every two years, will also launch a series of online activities since the end of August to next March, highlighting both TIMTOS Salon and TIMTOS Glimpse.
The COVID-19 outbreak has significantly impacted the global manufacturing industry, which is also facing a serious challenge. During the TIMTOS Salon, representatives of Machine Tool Associations from the United States, Turkey, Russia, India and Thailand will be invited to share their first-hand information and forecast future trends. For its premiere to be broadcast on August 27, Mr. Steve Kline, Chief Data Officer of Gardner Business Media, an authoritative media for global machine tools, will discuss the topic of Global Machine Tool Supply Chain Restructuring and Future Watch. He will analyze the changes in demand for global machine tools, the status of the US machine tool industry and the forecast of major application areas for the machine tool industry in the future. Airing on August 31 is the second episode of TIMTOS Salon, in which Mr. Fatih VARLIK, Chairman of Machine Tools Industrialists and Business Association (TiAD), will be invited to share the current situation in Turkey. In the first half of this year, Taiwan's export of machine tools to Turkey increased by 115 percent. Nevertheless, Turkey has been imposing import tariffs of 7 to 10 percent on Taiwanese machine tools since May 20, an issue that has raised many concerns among Taiwanese manufacturers. Accordingly, Fatih will be invited to TIMTOS Salon to share his views on how to respond to the matter.
TIMTOS Glimpse, a program for exhibitors to show their new products videos, will also start at the end of August. An interview video with Hiwin Technologies Corp., a world-renowned ball screw manufacturer, will air on August 28. TIMTOS Salon and TIMTOS Glimpse will then release a total of three episodes each month from September to November, which will air at 3 pm Taiwan time on every 2nd ,3rd, and 4th Thursdays. TIMTOS 2021 will be held March 15-20 at Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center Hall 1, Hall 2 and World Trade Center Hall 1. The number of physical display booths is expected to reach nearly 7,000, which will be the world's first large-scale machine tool show ever since the COVID-19 outbreak. In addition, the organizer Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) will follow market trends in planning online version to help exhibitors break social distance restrictions and connect with global buyers. TIMTOS 2021's online and offline exhibitions are expected to be a platform for industry players to present their innovative technologies and transformation achievements in the post-COVID-19 era.
