You may have seen street artists before, but this is definitely something new for you. In Yilan, the National Center for Traditional Arts has taken street performance to the next level.
If you love to have fun and have a day to spare, this tour is definitely for you. The centerpiece of activities at this Center is a show that combines elements from traditional folk song, dance, theater, traditional cultural customs, and street performance. |
The storyline comes from the lyrics of a popular folk song depicting the story of a wedding. The characters are all animals frequently seen in the Taiwan countryside. While watching the show, feel free to try and figure out the wedding customs in old times, or take a guess as to which animal each character represents. After the show, there are also exhibitions of crafts and artwork at the Center, with themes varying every season.
